A Black Forest cake can be decorated in a variety of ways, but using chocolate frosting and cherry nozzles is one of the most common methods. Melted chocolate, butter, and icing sugar are combined to make chocolate frosting. For this recipe, using high-quality chocolate is essential because the flavour will be evident in the icing. Cherry jam is piped through a piping bag with a star nozzle to create cherry nozzles. The cherry jam can also be piped with a regular nozzle, however the star nozzle will look neater. When piping the chocolate icing, begin in the middle of the cake and spiral outward. Starting from the border of the cake, pipe the cherry jam towards the centre in a spiral motion. Once the piping is done, use chocolate shavings or grated chocolate to adorn the cake.
