Posted by In the past few days, there have been a number of things (both good and bad) going on in my life. First of all, I just wanted to let you know that I’m now several weeks from my due date (!!) and that’s not the only change that will be happening over the next few weeks.
I have just bought a new house with my husband! Regardless of how crazy it may sound; You can laugh at me now or later. It is my intention to nest along with packing up this house as soon as possible to prepare for our possession date in early December.
The new house we are moving into is in an older neighborhood, close to downtown, and has a modern design that we are really interested in. However, I have also been stressed out about getting everything done on time. I am looking forward to changing some of our furniture to suit the new house as well. So, that will be an added to the to-do list.
Even though this is exciting for me, I am feeling a bit under pressure to pick things out and order them. So, that we are not sitting on the floor in our living room watching TV for months. Firstly, I want to let you know about a few of the pieces I have been looking at… and I want your opinion on them! Here they are:
Dining Area
I’m pretty sure this room will be pretty much set up. As of yesterday, the dining table was the only thing we bought (so far). But we’re going to wait to buy the Replica Eames Dining Chairs. So, that we don’t have to move them when we’re packing up the house. I’ve seen them from Luxe Furnishes, so I’m not sure if I want to deal with them yet. Since I’m sure they’ll be around for quite some time.
As I look at the table, I’m drawn to the warm tones of the walnut wood (these will be at the top of the table) and the white pops you get from the Eames-style chairs (2 chairs for each side of the table). Do you like it?
Living Room
As I look at this room, I am not sure what to put in it. I have to complete it with side chairs, a coffee table, two side tables, a rug, and so on. It is hard for me to know how to decorate this room with such a blank canvas.
It is my intention to pick the seating first, but we have not gotten to that point yet – except that we both enjoy the classic Barcelona style chair, so that is what we have picked! Do you have a color in mind that we would like to see?
Barcelona Chairs
My preference is gray leather, as it appears more appealing than plain white leather or plain black leather. I like the soft and neutral shades of gray found in gray leather. But what sectional should I pair it with? Considering we’re moving forward from here, I’m not sure if white or super light should be used.
My favorite sectional is the Eams Chair sectional (below), but I’m also considering adding subtle colors by adding a minty gray woven fabric that will add a subtle shade of gray in the room. It’s also one of my favorite colors, so you won’t be surprised that I’ll be making it. I’m not sure if my husband will agree to do that because A) finding that color of fabric is a problem and B) my husband will be hesitant to do so.
